Palo Santo
Palo Santo – “holy wood” – is an aromatic wood from Peru and Ecuador that has been used for centuries to cleanse spaces, calm the mind, and promote focus. Its soft smoke with a citrus-pine scent creates an immediate atmosphere of peace and harmony. It belongs to the same family as frankincense and myrrh (Burseraceae).

What is it?
It is the aromatic heartwood of the Bursera graveolens tree, which grows naturally in the dry forests of northern Peru and neighboring Ecuador. Its high content of limonene (a natural citrus essential oil) gives it a clean, bright scent. Legally and sustainably harvested exclusively from naturally fallen branches and trees, it is left to mature naturally for 3–5 years – only then does the wood have its full aroma.
What is it used for?
- Space cleansing and energy hygiene: traditionally during rituals, meditation, after a hard day, before meetings or a cacao ceremony.
- Concentration and creativity: the subtle, "bright" scent helps induce creativity and concentration while working or studying
- Rituals of intention and transformation: for new beginnings, celebration, gratitude, letting go of the old.
- Home aromatization: natural room fragrance without synthetic perfumes.
How to use
- Light the end of the stick for ~20–30 seconds.
- Blow out the flame and let the wood smolder (the smoke should be fine, not thick).
- "Pass" the smoke over the space (doors, corners, desk) or yourself - move slowly and consciously
- Place on a non-flammable bowl with sand/salt. Relight as needed. One stick lasts for dozens of short uses.
Ritual TIp:
Pred zapálením si na chvíľu sadni, vyslov zámer (čistota, jasnosť, vďačnosť) a poďakuj prírode. Výborne sa dopĺňa s kakaom – Palo Santo „otvorí priestor“, kakao „otvorí srdce“.
Warning
We prefer legal origins and permits (Peru: SERFOR) and harvesting from naturally fallen wood (Palo Santo) or careful collection of resin (copal) without damaging the tree.
By purchasing products, you support the protection of dry forests and Amazonian communities that live in harmony with nature and traditional harvesting.
